Tony Wheeler, the co-founder of Lonely Planet guide books stopped by our office for an interview in the Summer of 2007. He was on a promotional tour for his latest book, Bad Lands. Sean, founder of BootsnAll, sat down with him for over an hour to discuss:
- the book
- travel in general
- Tony Wheeler as a person
- his changing role at Lonely Planet
- technology as it relates to Lonely Planet
Since this conversation, LP was bought out by BBC for 222 million (not sure about that #). Well done Mr. Wheeler.
It was a lot of fun and we hope you enjoy it.
Kinda reminds me a little of Pelton’s ‘Dangerous Places” book. Great job with the interview and thanks for posting it. Is there any chance you could post a transcript of the interview?
Cool video! Good questions for the interview, entertaining conversation, and I really liked the maps that were shown behind the speaker. Good job, hope Bootsnall makes more videos!
[So if you specialize in round the world travel, how come the globe in your logo is spinning backwards?]
Anyway, nice, thanks.
